First Friday Book Club

Friday, March 6 | 8:30am-10:00am

Short Story: The Flotilla at Bird Island.

We're inviting nonprofit employees, volunteers and board members to join us in reading a collection of thoughtful and compelling short stories. Then, join us the first Friday of each month for a discussion about how the story relates to Northwest Indiana and our contributions to the community.

To download the short story for the March 6 conversation, please visit our Google Drive.

This event is part of Legacy Foundation’s First Friday Book Club. Every month we will provide a short story to read. You will be able to easily download the PDF to read on a device or print for your convenience. Each story will have a topic relating to a current issue around human health. (i.e. immigration, climate change, family connection, health care) We gather for conversation on the First Friday of each month to discuss the short story and how it relates to our communities. To learn more about the Book Club, please call 219-736-1880 or email

The selected short story is part of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation collection, "Take Us to a Better Place."
